Operation - Binning and Stacking

As a Tullow Geophysicist, I wish to be able to stack my traces based on criteria related to coordinates. The coordinates should be modified to fit into a predefined bin in the output.
This should implement a straight-forward solution rather than a heavily researched "ideal" solution

Pre-Dev Notes:
Bins are predefined grids with some specified length and width; all traces that satisfy some criteria fall within that bin are assigned the same coordinate. Assigning multiple traces to the same coordinate and averaging them constitutes stacking
Have some example binning and allow for custom bins
Open questions:
What type of binning (we are already doing 4D binning - not really)? common 3D binning schemes are binning based on common midpoint between 1) source and receiver, 2) reflection point, 3) conversion point.
